It does not apply to information collected through any other means, including on any other website operated by a third party that does not link to this Notice; or any third party, including through any application or content that may link to or be accessible from or through the Services.

The Personal Information That We Collect or Process


Personal information (also referred to as “personal data”) is information that identifies, relates to, or describes, directly or indirectly, you as an individual, such as your name, email address, telephone number, home address, or any other identifier we may use to contact you online or offline. Personal information does not include aggregated data, such as  statistical, technical, or other aggregated data that does not directly identify a specific person or  non-personal statistical or aggregated data derived from personal information. For example, we may aggregate personal information to calculate the percentage of users accessing a specific feature of the Services.

If we combine or connect aggregated data with personal information so that it directly or indirectly identifies an individual, we treat the combined information as personal information.

The types and categories of personal information we collect or process include:

  • Identifiers, including names, usernames, or handles, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, IP addresses or device IDs, account IDs or authentication tokens, images, voice recordings, or videos (if identifiable);

  • Protected characteristics/demographics, including age, gender, or income level (from survey responses or demographic questions), as well as any voluntarily disclosed ethnicity, disability, or veteran status (if collected);

  • Commercial information, including payment methods (e.g., PayPal, Venmo), transaction and payment history, billing and invoice records;

  • Internet or electronic activity, including usage data (site navigation, feature use, session logs), cookie data, pixels, analytics logs, login timestamps, clickstream, time-on-page metrics, email open and response rates, online survey responses;

  • Geolocation, including approximate general location inferred from IP address;

  • Professional/employment information, including employer, job title, company name, qualifications, work experience, expertise area (from onboarding or professional networking profiles), conflict-of-interest or vetting documentation;

  • Inferences, including research participation history, expert categorization or relevance scoring (e.g., field, expertise, reliability), segmenting users by usage patterns or interests; and

  • Sensitive personal information, including social security numbers. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted by law or expected purposes (such as payment processing).

How We Collect Your Personal and Other Data


You Provide Information to Us

Personal information that you provide directly to us will be apparent from the context in which you provide it. For example:

  • Filling out forms: If you fill out a form on our sites, you may provide your name, contact details (postal address, email address, and telephone number), and other information requested by the form, such as the reason for your inquiry.

  • Signing up for communications: If you sign up to receive updates or newsletters from us, you may be asked to provide your name, email address, and other contact information.

  • Participating in research: If you participate in a research interview or survey, you may provide professional details, demographic information, and your responses to interview or survey questions.

  • Publicly accessible online sources, such as professional profiles, company websites, or other sites that publish business contact or background information.


We use this information to identify, contact, and evaluate potential experts or research participants, to verify professional credentials, and to improve the quality and accuracy of our research data.


Automatically Through Our Services

As you navigate our website, we and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) to operate and improve the Services. We may also use analytics and, in some cases, advertising technologies such as cookies or pixels to measure website performance and deliver relevant content.

We do not currently use third-party advertising technologies for cross-context behavioral targeting. However, we may enable such technologies in the future, for example, through platforms like LinkedIn, to reach relevant audiences or measure campaign effectiveness. If we do, we will update this Notice and provide a clear mechanism for you to opt out of such sharing, as required by applicable law.


How We Use Your Information


We use the personal information we collect, or that is provided to us, to operate our business, provide and improve our Services, and meet our contractual and legal obligations. Specifically, we may use your personal information for the following business purposes:

  • Provide and Manage the Services, including processing transactions and managing business relationships. 

  • Improve and secure our operations, including maintaining and enhancing the functionality, performance, and security of our systems; analyzing usage and operational data; and using interview feedback to refine workflows or AI tools. We do not use personal information to train or retrain general-purpose language models.

  • Communicating with you, including responding to inquiries, providing support, sending service-related messages, and offering promotions or other marketing communications, consistent with your communication preferences.

  • Conduct analytics and research, including analyzing usage trends, performing quality and performance reviews, and generating deidentified or aggregated insights to inform future research and product development.

  • Comply with legal and business obligations, including accounting, auditing, recordkeeping, and other internal administrative functions.


For these processing activities, we may use techniques such as artificial intelligence and machine learning to process and analyze data.


When we deidentify, aggregate, or anonymize data for purposes such as analytics, research, product development, and to improve our services, we endeavor to maintain and use the data in a deidentified, anonymized, or aggregated form such that it cannot reasonably be used to reidentify individuals, except as permitted by applicable law.


We use third-party analytics services in connection with our Services, including Google Analytics. Information collected through these services may be disclosed to or collected directly by the providers. To learn more about their practices, please review their respective privacy policies. We do not currently use third-party advertising services. 


These services may track your online activities over time and across multiple websites. They do so by collecting information through cookies, web server logs, pixels, web beacons, and similar technologies. This data may include details about the pages or ads you view, the actions you take, and your interactions with our content both on our Services and on participating third-party sites.


We use this information to measure the effectiveness of our marketing and improve the relevance of our communications. For more information about your choices regarding these advertising technologies, please see the Your Rights and Choices About Your Information section below.


Our Services are not designed to respond to “Do Not Track” signals from browsers.


Your Rights and Choices About Your Information


This section describes mechanisms you can use to control certain uses and disclosures of your information and rights you may have under state law, depending on where you live.

  • Communications Choices. You can tell us at any time not to send you marketing communications by email by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the marketing emails you receive from us or by sending an “opt out” request to the address indicated on the email.

  • Marketing and Advertising. We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking technologies for targeted or interest-based advertising. If we begin to do so, we will update this Notice and provide clear opt-out options as required by law. Depending on where you reside, you may have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising. 


We do not control third parties’ advertising technologies, but they may offer ways to limit collection, such as through the Network Advertising Initiative or browser-based Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals, which we will honor as required by law. To learn more about opting out of receiving targeted ads from members of the Network Advertising Initiative ("NAI"), including how to add the NAI Global Privacy Control (GPC) extension to your Chrome web browser, see NAI: How to Opt Out. When we detect such a signal, we will make reasonable efforts to respect your choices indicated by a GPC setting as required by applicable law.

However, no website, mobile application, system, electronic storage, or online service is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted to, through, using, or in connection with the Services. In particular, email, texts, and chats sent to or from the Services may not be secure, and you should carefully decide what information you send to us via such communications channels. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk.

We are subject to requirements of the CCPA because we process personal information about California consumers. We may allow certain service providers to collect internet or electronic network activity information on our behalf for analytics or site performance. We do not permit other third parties to collect personal information about your online activities across different websites for their own independent purposes.


How We Have Used and Disclosed Personal Information for a Business Purpose


We may use (and may have used during the 12-month period prior to the Last Updated date of this CCPA Notice) your personal information for the purposes described in the section of our Privacy Notice titled How We Use Your Information. We do not use personal information for purposes other than those described in that section.

We do not collect or process sensitive personal information for purposes of inferring characteristics about consumers.


To the extent we process deidentified information, we will maintain and use the information in deidentified form and will not attempt to reidentify the information unless permitted by applicable law.


Personal Information That We May Have “Sold” or “Shared” with Third Parties


We have not sold or shared personal information for monetary consideration or for cross-context behavioral advertising in the preceding twelve (12) months. We do not have actual knowledge that we sell or share the personal information of minors under 16 years of age.

Your Rights Under the CCPA


You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Access. You have the right to request, twice in a 12-month period, that we disclose to you the categories of personal information collected about you, the categories of sources from which the personal information is collected, the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing personal information, the categories of third parties to whom we disclose personal information, and the specific pieces of personal information collected about you.

  • Right to Delete. You may request that we delete personal information that we have collected from You.

  • Right to Correct. You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information that we maintain about You.

  • Right to Opt Out of Sales and Sharing. You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information and the sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Clairvoyant Research does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA. If this changes, we will update this Notice and provide a clear mechanism for you to exercise your opt-out rights, such as through a ‘Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information’ link on our website.

  • Right to Non-Discrimination: If you choose to exercise any of your rights under the CCPA, you have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment by us. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may charge a reasonable fee to comply with your request.


How to Submit a Request to Exercise Your Rights

How We Verify Your Request


To help protect your privacy and maintain security, we will take steps to verify your identity before granting you access to your personal information or complying with your deletion or correction request. If you request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, we may require you to verify your email address or phone number in our records and/or provide any of the following information:

  • Full name and surname

  • State of residence

  • Physical address

  • Telephone number

  • Nature of your relationship with our company

  • Email address

In addition, if you ask us to provide you with specific pieces of personal information, we may require you to sign a declaration under penalty of perjury that you are the consumer whose personal information is the subject of the request.


Opt-Out Preference Signal


Opt-out of Sale or Sharing: You can opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information associated with a browser or device by broadcasting the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Certain browsers and browser extensions support the GPC which sends a signal to the websites you visit indicating your choice to opt out from certain types of data processing, including the sale of your personal information and the sharing of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. If you want to use GPC, you can download and enable it via a participating browser or browser extension. When we detect a GPC signal, we will automatically process the signal in a frictionless manner so as to respect your choices indicated by the GPC setting.
